Burlap Halloween Wreath

Halloween Wreath

October 1st!! Halloween is almost here! Well…not really “almost” here. But we all know how fast these fall and winter months go by. Pretty soon it will be Halloween, then turn around and Thanksgiving, and then before you can blink it is Christmas! Agh!!

These 3 end of the year holidays are my favorite to decorate for. I definitely like to keep the decorations up as long as I can even though my hubs often Continue reading

Southwest Salad

Southwest Summer Salad

I love summertime and it’s sunshine! I love that I get so much time to spend with family and friends. I love that summer brings opportunities for lots of bbq’s and pool parties and tons of good food!

I also really LOVE a good salad! When I say “good” salad, I mean one LOADED with all kinds of yummy ingredients. I like it super filling and topped with a delicious dressing. This Southwest  Salad fills all of these requirements, plus it makes a lot so I can eat it for a few meals, or serve it up to a large group. It is also great because I don’t have to turn on the oven to prepare dinner! This is major, I try to cook things in the summertime that do not require the oven, no way do I need that extra heat in my house! I know you feel me on this!

4th of July Tye Dyed shirts

4th of July Tye Dyed Shirts

I always, every year just buy those 5 dollar shirts from Old Navy with the flag on them. But….this year I decided to make my girls some patriotic shirts. How hard could it be right? Well…after scouring pinterest for ideas I settled on trying some tye dying. The tutorial I found was great, pictures were awesome. But…my end result, well it was good but wasn’t near as cute as the original. My girls will still wear them because they are definitely not horrible, and because I worked so hard on them.

I thought, tye dying, easy and cheap, it can’t take a lot of time. I was partially correct. It was pretty cheap, I got the shirts at Wal Mart for 3.00, and the tulip shirt dye at JoAnns with a coupon so it was 6.00. It wasn’t hard at all, just mix the dye up and squirt it the shirts. But time consuming it was, and super messy. Or maybe I am just messy…hmmmm, not sure. All I know is it DID make a mess and rinsing the dye out of the shirts took FOREVER!

So, not a total pinterest FAIL, maybe we could call it a partial fail and maybe the reason for the partial fail is all me, it was my very first time experimenting with tye die!! Plus I tried to dye some polka dotted white fabric scraps to make hair accessories out of. Didn’t really work!

So, here is how it went. Continue reading

Let Me Count the Ways..

2102fthr32turns

This post is dedicated to my husband Brad. Today is Father’s Day and this post is a list of reasons why he is awesome and perfect for me and our girls. Now I didn’t say he is perfect, no one is perfect, Brad will be the first one to tell he is not perfect; but he IS perfect for our family.

Brad will not like this post because it is all about him and because it is not written with the intent of attracting attention from the blogosphere to grow my blog. Brad will like this post also because it is all about him and because it tells a story of why he is such an amazing dad and shows how much he is loved by his girls.

This Father’s Day Brad is in Kansas on a business trip. Bummer! So….since he is gone out of town and we can’t give him a real hug, this post is a “computer hug” through the internet. We love you babe, we think you are perfect! Why…well let me count the ways. Commence the trip through memory lane.
