Cleaning Tips

A few weeks ago I spoke at our church’s monthly enrichment meeting. This meeting is just for the women at my church, and the monthly topics are focused on helping us to learn and grow spiritually and mentally so we can become the best wives, mothers and women we can be! I really enjoy these enrichment meetings. There is always something to learn, and I love the friendships I have built with the other women there. Those relationships alone are enough of a reason for me to attend!! But I always leave these meetings feeling uplifted and renewed and I usually come away with some type of new knowledge, and I am excited to be even better at my jobs of mom, wife and woman.

So, back to my first sentence. I was asked to give a short 15 min. presentation on cleaning and organizing. Now, if you know me you will know that I do LOVE a clean and organized house! Does that mean that my house IS always clean and organized?  Heck no….I wish!!! But I am not going to say no to an assignment talking about cleaning and organizing, that stuff makes me excited like a kid at Christmas. Even if I don’t use all the tips I shared, I wish I did, my life would run way more smoothly.

So I thought perhaps these tips might be useful to my readers as well. When I incorporate these tasks in my day to day, seriously my life is easier. It is so hard to do them all the time though. So even if you pick up one new thing to incorporate into your routine, writing this post will have been time very well spent.

Because I could talk about cleaning and organizing for probably a week straight, this post will just be about cleaning and there will be a subsequent one for organizing. Sound good? Ok, then let’s begin.

First of all, let’s address “Spring Cleaning”!  For years I felt like I needed to do all my deep spring cleaning once a year, in the spring of course and all at once!! Ugh!! Pretty much I hated Spring because I would either suffer through days on end of incessantly scrubbing or I would avoid it and then feel supremely guilty. Ta Da….there is another way. I hate deep cleaning, but it has to be done. I don’t know anyone who likes it, but I do know it feels really good when it is done. So how about doing one or two deep cleaning items a month?

A monthly deep cleaning schedule? Lightbulb ON!! Brilliant! So here is my monthly schedule for the whole year. I just do a little every month and then my house is constantly being deep cleaned and I don’t try to avoid the tasks like the plague.
