Teacher Appreciation Gift

Last week I became the new PTSA president for the 2013-2014 school year at my daughter’s elementary school. I am super excited and to be honest a bit overwhelmed by the enormity of the task. But like my husband says, “it’s like an elephant, you gotta take it ONE bite at a time.” This is often his advice to me, it is his way of trying to get me to calm the heck down and relax! Good luck I tell him! Relax…calm down… those are things I do not know how to do!! Anyone relate?

Women’s Weekend

I do love a good getaway, but a girls only vacation…..now that is the stuff that dreams are made of! Am I right? Seriously, I am totally right! Every year the women in my family (on my mom’s side) get together for 4 days of sun, pool, food, shopping, gabbing, oh…and more shopping! This little trip has been a tradition for well over 3o years now and last week was this years trip. I remember distinctly when my Grandma sat my husband down when he was my fiance and made him promise to support me in attending this yearly excursion throughout the years of my marriage, even after we had kids. He has so wonderfully kept his promise and I have been able to attend almost every year. It is a super fun filled 4 days and I always leave completely exhausted and broke, and already looking forward to next year!

Now, we do have a few rules just to keep the trip on the right track: 1) No babies. Unless your baby is in your belly, you can’t come. 2) No men, that means no boyfriends, brothers, husbands or fiance’s  3)You have to be 18 to attend, this allows us to speak freely and tell stories without the running the risk of offending younger ears (hee hee) I am probably the reason this rule was put into place, the later into the night it gets, well….let’s just say I lose my filter!

Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles

I do love cookies….hmm…I think perhaps I have mentioned that to you before! hee hee! Snickerdoodles are DEFINITELY one of my favorite cookies, but I just don’t hear about people making them very often.

Kind of a forgotten cookie…..but NOT forgotten at my house! They are delicious and my kids especially love it when I make them because they get to help roll the cookie dough into balls and coat them in sugar and cinnamon. Super fun!! Also, sugar and cinnamon…what doesn’t taste good coated in that combination?? Seriously, if you have never had a Snickerdoodle Continue reading

My Dog Follows Me Everywhere

My Dog Follows Me Everywhere

I Love my dog Tucker. I used to think that I was NOT a dog person, but then I got a dog…….What?

Now I know that I am a dog person, but only where my dog is concerned, just look at that face, how could I not love him?! 🙂 I do like animals but I don’t necessarily love other people’s dogs….really just my own. Can anyone else relate to this? I mean no disrespect to other people pets, I am sure they are great, I just don’t necessarily want to pet them or have them slobber on me. LOL!

My dog follows me everywhere. All day long he pads around the house after me. At night he follows me as I check on the kids sleeping in their beds, and if I forget this part of our bedtime ritual he patiently waits outside their bedroom doors until I notice him so we can make sure my girls are safe and sound and asleep in their beds. He stands on the couch and looks out the window and barks at strangers (and people we know) if they even look they are going to enter our yard or knock on our door. He is very scary at a whopping 6.5 pounds! He does him best to protect our home.

So why did I get a dog if I didn’t even really like dogs?? Hmmm, that is truly the question of the day. Continue reading
